Counselling CoursesThe Counselling Profession and Counsellor Training is set to be Government Regulated by 2009 which will result in changes to the way in which Counsellors are trained. LC&CTA are preparing for these changes, however, our current Portfolio of Courses appear on the National Qualification Framework. We are also Organisational Members of the BACP & BACPSL. A beginners’ course for anyone who works - or is interested in working - with people in the statutory or voluntary sector. Awarding Body: The Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling This course leads to professional qualification as a counsellor. The course is accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). Starts in September and runs for 2 academic years: 1 day a week in college, practice placement required, client work supervision and own personal counselling. Course description: This course engages you in a vigorous experiential and self-explorative learning process and you must be willing to commit yourself fully to the personal, professional, theoretical understanding and academic developmental process. The course is highly life changing and enhancing but such transition can be difficult and emotionally painful. The course covers:

Diploma in Counselling Supervision This course combines the practical, theoretical and clinical elements of the counselling supervision relationship and process. Starts in March and runs for 36 weeks (1 academic year): Thursday pm during term time and two weekend workshops. Course description: The course is highly exciting, experiential, practical and runs on a Thursday evening for 3 hours over 36 weeks; with an additional 2 one day Workshops toward the end of the course. You will engage in 120 hours of contact study which combine the practical, theoretical and clinical elements of the Counselling Supervision Relationship and Process. Awarding Body: The CPCAB Facilitating Therapeutic Groups Every group has a distinct character and power and is always more than the sum of its individual parts. Facilitating groups can be like journeying without a map – often difficult, intense, challenging and stimulating. Group facilitators can become the receptacle for the group’s negativity and projections. The course aims to illicit each member’s unique ability, and develops their confidence in facilitating therapeutic groups – by exploring with them their ability to use themselves to harness the strength of the group to empower individual members. The course will cover the characteristics of group work: tasks, facilitator styles, models, interventions, dynamics and processes, boundaries and inherent difficulties. Autogenic Therapy Training Course Autogenic therapy/training is an extremely effective self-help approach to long-term well-being; giving greater control over physical health, improving emotional well-being, enhancing personal relationships and releasing creativity. Starts in September and February and runs for 5/6 weeks. Course description: Following an initial one-one personal assessment with Lynne Stevens you will learn Autogenic Therapy over 6-7 weeks. Sessions last approximately 1_ to 2 hours and are conducted in small supportive groups. No special clothing or equipment is required. |
