'BACP' is the registered Trade Mark of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotheraphy.
Professor Mick Cooper from Strathclyde University holds a relational depth workshop at LC&CTA, March 2011
Professor John McLeod visited LC&CTA in November 2011 to further discuss Chris Brown and Juanita Harriot's research project on the 'Value of Research in Counsellor Training' (Chris and Juanita's paper will be presented on Professor John McLeod's Research Panel at the BACP National Research Conference in May 2012). John also delivered a CPD Workshop to LC&CTA students and tutors on 'Pluralistic Counselling' the psychotherapeutic modality he developed with Professor Mick Cooper (seen above when he visited LC&CTA earlier in 2011); a model of counselling that encompasses innovative ideas yet also appears to be firmly rooted in the Person-Centred Approach. Our students also benefited from John's research expertise and were able to discuss their own research work with him.

Excitingly this course has been newly developed by our In House Dramatherapist and offers you her unique slant on Dramatherapy in addition to introducing you to the formal constructs of the approach. Your understanding of Dramatherapy will be developed both theoretically and experientially and you will learn about its benefits to a wide range of clients. It is vital that when Dramatherapy techniques are used in the facilitation of clients that such techniques are appropriately applied; however, the skilled application of these techniques are especially effective when working with clients who find verbal discourse difficult. Dramatherapy is also highly beneficial in the psychotherapeutic alliance when working with children or vulnerable adults; those who have with mental health disorders or learning difficulties.
We aim for the weekend to be an intense shared journey of self-discovery and liberation for the participants. We also aim to facilitate the group to act as a cohesive, supportive unit in which each member is given the time and space she/he needs to safely explore their most painful experiences.
