Where are our previous students now?

LC&CTA keeps a close association with and interest in the career development of many of our previous students. We also take an active part in helping our students take their place in our profession.
Here are just a few of our previous students’ professional successes:

Qualified in 2009:
 

Tony Donohue is currently taking his Masters Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and continues to work as a counsellor for a South London Agency.

 

Ian Holt is in the process of building his Private Practice.

 

Charlotte Pool continues to work in a South London Counselling Agency.

 

Jacqui Neil is considering embarking on teacher training in order to become a counsellor/trainer in the fullness of time and is currently working as a counsellor in a South East London agency.

 

Michelle Denny Brown is now employed by an Agency in London as a Counsellor researching Black African and Black Caribbean Men's access to sexual health advice and services, as a Helpline Counsellor for an Agency who supports those who have been sexually abused and she continues to work as a Counsellor in a South London GP Practice.

As well as developing their counselling careers in other ways all the above listed former students now work as sessional counsellors for LC&CTA.

 

Paul Badham is now employed by a London Borough as a Parent Worker/Counsellor; working with parents of teenagers (aged 11-17) providing early intervention support, 1:1 sessions and group work in order to avoid further social exclusion and family breakdown. Paul is managing and developing this new and rewarding project.

 

Lisa Bent works as a counsellor for a South London Counselling Agency and is in the process of completing her Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

 

Serena Mullings qualified in 2009 and now works as both a sessional counsellor for LC&CTA and is the manager of an extensive multi-discipline project facilitating young offenders to turn their lives around.

 

Tim Walker qualified in 2009 continues to work for the Cassel Centre as a Counsellor and as a Charity Manager assisting people with Learning Difficulties.

 

Lyla Smith-Abbas qualified in 2009, works as a Drama Therapist and as a Counsellor for LC&CTA as well as currently being engaged in setting up an exciting Diversity Counselling project which is seeking government funding.

 

Gemma Deran is continuing to develop her private practice and her project idea working with young people in therapeutic groups. The latter is being set up as a Social Enterprise Company known as 'Chrysalis Creative Communities'.

 
Qualified in 2008:
 

Mavis Larty works as a Learning facilitator for both a South London College and LC&CTA as well as continuing to develop her Private Counselling Practice.

 

Angela Sweeney qualified in 2008 set up and works as the Agency Manager of Quaggy Community Counselling Service.

 

Lynne Stephens qualified in 2008 works for Quaggy Community Counselling Service as a counsellor and as a Skills Facilitator and Tutor for LC&CTA. Lynne also has her own Private Practice.

 

Paul Moody qualified in 2008 now works as a part-time Mentor at the Stephen Lawerence Centre in Deptford.

 

Martin Williams qualified in 2008 now works as a sessional counsellor for the Enrichment Team at Lewisham College and as a Mentor for the Stephen Lawerence Centre in Deptford.

 
Qualified in 2007:
 

Candy Fathers is in the final year of taking her Certificate in Education and is a Tutor at LC&CTA. She also works as a counsellor for two South London Counselling Agencies.

 

Miguel Wiggan works for an extensive project in Surrey counselling children who have been excluded or who are in danger of being excluded from school.

 

Manda Glanfield works in a number of Agencies as a counsellor and assists LC&CTA in developing its Public Relations Policies and Profile.

 
Qualified at Lewisham College by LC&CTA Tutors and still in contact with us:
 

Tony Taylor now holds his Certificate in Education and works as a Tutor for LC&CTA and is a sessional counselling at a South London School and Counselling Agency.

   

Bev Rose works in her own Private Practice and as a sessional counsellor for LC&CTA.

 

Robert Sookham is currently studying at LC&CTA for his Counselling Supervisor Qualification and he continues to work in a variety of settings as a counsellor.

 

Leon Gayle works as a counsellor with male offenders.
